The Kouga Local Tourism Organisation, the destination marketing arm of the Kouga Municipality, is celebrating Tourism Month with a photo competition.
Each week residents must find a specific tourist attraction in the Kouga region - Jeffreys Bay and surrounding areas, St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis and the Gamtoos Valley - take a selfie, post it on the Kouga Express Facebook Page (Kouga Express), and hashtag it #kougatourismroutes.
First on the list is the most south eastern tip. Hint: There is a monument and it is situated close to a penguin rehabilitation centre. Visit the site, take a selfie, and post it on the Kouga Express Facebook Page before September 13.
The owner of the winning photo will receive a Calamari Festival Experience for two: two sets of tasting tickets (calamari and beverage), and a Taste of St Francis cookbook. They will also be able to meet the judges. The prize is valued at R450.
Four weekly prizes, as well as two overall prizes, are up for grabs. The overall prizes include a stay at Cape St Francis Resort, a day hike (Chokka Trail) with calamari tasting and a canal cruise for four valued at R2 400, as well as a weekend (two nights) for five at Pabala Private Nature Reserve’s Stone Cottage valued at R2 500.
Both prizes are subject to availability and during off peak times. Bookings are essential.
The KLTO committee will choose the weekly and overall winners and will contact the winner via social media. The winning photos will also be published in the Kouga Express.
