THE No More Shame (NOMSA) Women’s Movement, which cares for abused women and girls in need of healing, recently launched their new rape and crisis centre in Pellsrus.
The centre will see to the women who are broken and walk a road with them to heal and uplift them. They will provide counselling and have one-on-one sessions with them, in order for them to heal and get to a better place in their life to be themselves again.
Asked what NOMSA hopes to accomplish with the centre, founder Ashlene Arends said, “To provide services that will enable women to heal.
“We will offer counselling for rape victims and abused women and children, as well as short-term stays for women in need of temporary accommodation, and for women and yong girls who are victims of rape who need to enrol in a programme for healing.”
NOMSA, which operates in partnership with the We Care Organisation, will hold a four-day campaign in Jeffreys Bay from August 9 to 12 to determine just how great the need for such an organisation is in the area.
