An array of events this Heritage Month

THE Msunduzi Heritage Forum will be celebrating Heritage Month this September with a host of different events highlighting South Africa and Pietermaritzburg’s rich history.

The forum, which is a group of like-minded people and organisations, has put a programme together in order to make the public aware of the activities and events they can attend this September.

Among these events will be a heritage lecture which kicks of Heritage month on September 3 given by Professor Goolam Vahed the author of the book, Chota Motala, a biography of Political Activism in the Kwazulu-Natal Midlands.

Throughout the month of September various other events will highlight the significant history Pietermaritzburg shares with South Africa as The Pietermaritzburg Heritage Society, together with the Maritzburg College Museum and Simon Haw will be giving an illustrated talk titled “A troubled past – reflections on 20th Century Polish history”, which focuses primarily on Poland during the Second World War on Saturday, September 8.

With various other events taking place in between, Heritage Month will end of with a Flea Market held at Project Gateway whereby the public are invited to rent out stalls and tables for the selling of their own products.

For more information regarding other events please contact the chairperson of the Natal Inland Family History Society on 033 343 1892 or 082 901 9047.
