CUPCAKES of Hope will host their main event, South Africa’s National Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer, on September 29 at the Liberty Midlands Mall.
The non-profit company, which seeks to create awareness and source funds for children with cancer, will host the community-driven project, and is asking for donations in order to make the event a success.
The event is held every September, to coincide with Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
“We also use this cupcake drive as a way to distribute leaflets to the public informing them of the early cancer warning signs as early detection of cancer can save lives,” said founder of Cupcakes of Hope Sandy Cipriano in a press release.
Raising R1,8 million in 2017, the funds have gone to various charities namely CANSA and Choc among those charities but not exclusively to them.
“We have donated money towards medical equipment at various oncology wards. We help a number of children to pay for medical treatment or equipment, travelling costs, school fees, food hampers, clothing and day to day living expenses. In some sad cases, we help pay for funeral expenses too,” said Cipriano.
“The team works hard to create awareness of our cause world-wide so that we can help families that need assistance but, most importantly, to share the early warning signs which we are blessed to have partnered up with medical experts to guide us,” ended Cipriano. Anyone looking to donate towards the cause can contact Jaydene on 073 496 5621, Karen on 061 459 9317 or Michelle on 083 560 0028.
