I would like to add on to what Mr Jerry Barnes said in last week’s edition of this publication that “A lot of publications are unfortunately overlooking township events, especially from nearby townships.”
He also mentioned that Maritzburg Echo has always been known as the “people’s mouth piece”. I concur profoundly with Mr Barnes. That is why I felt the need to take a moment to compliment the news you report on for our communities. Every week I look forward to receiving the paper and seeing what the paper has for us.
I am sure I am not the only one who takes to heart and appreciates the Echo publication. Every edition always touches on issues affecting our community on daily basis. I commend and thank Maritzburg Echo management for their amazing contribution to the society. We see so much of the negative side in the media that it is so refreshing to have a positive, upbeat report on the good things that are happening in our communities every day.
I myself am very grateful to Maritzburg Echo for the opportunity they gave me in showcasing my novel Liph’ iwele lami in their publication. I was able to market and expose my work and, at the same time, represent my community (Sobantu). Thank you very much Maritzburg Echo. Continue to shine and give back. What would we do without you?
