Dead body discovered in Sweetwaters

POLICE are on the hunt for a man who allegedly shot and killed Mthobisi Mathenjwa on Saturday.

The body of Mathenjwa, from KwaZayeka in Sweetwaters, was discovered in the bush by community members who were passing by on Sunday who then alerted his family.

According to Echo sources, Mathenjwa’s body was found naked in the bush next to a road on the way to his house.

Mathenjwa reportedly left his home to attend a ceremony in the area but he never returned.

According to Pietermaritzburg Police Spokesperson Sergeant Mthokozisi Ngobese, Mathenjwa was found with a gunshot wound. He said police are investigating a case of murder but no one has yet been arrested.

“We know who the suspect is. We are looking for him and we will arrest him,” he said.
