Emma Barter Victoria Home

ESTABLISHED in 1883, accumulating a long history of providing support and care for indigent young women, the Emma Barter Home reinvented itself by amalgamating with the Victoria Memorial Home in 2014 to become a safe and affordable haven for the aged; called the Emma Barter Victoria Home.

A century and some years later, the home houses and takes care of 80 residents altogether.

With the main mission of the home to provide clean and friendly service, double and single beds are readily available as well as a 14 bed frail care facility where there are shared wards along with a few single and double rooms.

Seeking not only to be housing but to establish a home away from home environment, residents of the home have access to different activities as well as guests coming through to ensure that residents are entertained and kept company.

We encourage our residents to live active and meaningful lives with our staff committed to eradicating boredom, loneliness and helplessness.

Our monthly costs are highly competitive with all meals being provided, laundry and 24 hour nursing care.

Sr Pat Ferguson’s efforts ensure that only the best nursing care is provided with our carers going the extra mile to love and care for our residents.

Some of our facilities include a library, hairdresser, tuckshop and DSTV.

We have an array of volunteers who constantly provide entertainment for residents.

With multi-denominational church and Bible studies, as well as sing-a-longs, bingo and exercise programmes, residents can rest assured that they will not be forced to sit idly by.

As a non-profit organisation, Emma Barter relies heavily on assistance from both the corporate and private sectors.

We are dependent upon our residents and their families to pay their way to ensure the financial viability and thus the future of this home.
