Garden Show

Moore’s Garden, titled ‘The Disconnected Trees’, which was created for the Royal Agricultural Society (Ras), wowed the judges at The Witness Garden Show taking home the Effekto Care Floating Trophy for the best show feature garden of 2018.

With a wall of running water, fountains, Tillansdia (Grey Beard), orchids, ferns, and a host of pink and white blooms the eye-catching design beat off stiff competition from eThekwini Municipality, Msunduzi Municipality, Pot Pourri and Floriate.

Ras President Mike Moncur was thrilled for Moore.

“It’s unbelievable. Dave has been knocking on the door for so many years and now to get the top award, I’m very pleased for him,” he said.

The parks and recreation team from Msunduzi was also celebrating after winning a gold medallion for their show garden. They also won the Ras chief executive officer’s award and a certificate for the most improved municipality.

The Protek Floating Trophy for the best specialist display went to Floriate, with the best garden club feature garden prize being awarded to Pot Pourri and eThekwini Municipality winning the best feature garden municipality trophy.

Gold medals went to The Gardener/Die Tuinier magazine; Gordon Stuart Landscaping who created the Park Lane Superspar Garden, Garden Heart, the KwaZulu-Natal Clivia Club, the Midlands Rose Society, the KZN Beekeeper’s Association; Plantae Orchid Club, and Floriate.
