Hip hop artist to launch his album

IMBALI hip hop artist Mthokozisi “MTK” Mthethwa (28) will launch his first solo album on August 26 at Sophie’s Lifestyle in Imbali Stage 1 from 10 am till late.

The title of the album is called Rap vs Trap and will comprise 20 tracks.

Speaking to Echo Mthethwa said with this album he wants to encourage and motivate young people to follow their dreams and to not give up in life.

“This album has a mixture of songs, some speak about experiences that I have encountered in my life and in music, bad things that are happening around us in our societies and things that people can do to make their lives better.

“Although I am a hip-hop artist not all songs in this album are rap,” he said.

Since 2012, the artist has always worked with others and decided to open his own studio a year ago — a venture of his own.

“I felt as if I am ready and having my own studio worked as an advantage because I did everything at home, I had all the time to fix the mistakes and call other people if I am not sure about something. It took me seven months to finish the whole album and I am excited about the good work that I have done. I can not wait for people to hear it.

“It was not easy doing it as I wrote my own songs and I produced them. This is just a start, a lot of good things are coming. Music is my life and my passion. I am not there yet but I will succeed through the hard work.”

Mthethwa said he started recording music while he was in Grade 3 using tape recorders with his friends.
He said his wish is to work with big artists like Kwesta one day but for now he wants to market his
album through out KwaZulu-Natal.
