United defeated again

MARITZBURG United’s third game of the season reaped the same result as the last two, with United being knocked out of the MTN8 by Cape Town City 1-0 in the quarter finals on Sunday at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

Coming off the back of an impressive campaign last season, which saw United finish in the top eight of the PSL, United have not had much to be happy about this season — losing their first two games of the PSL and now being knocked out in the opening round of the MTN8.

Even though United missed some key players in the game, their performance lacked edge and City capitalised on this with a first half goal by Keanu Cupido, which was enough to see the team from the Cape go through.

The men in blue did all they could throughout the match, increasing the pressure on the boys from the Cape in search of an equaliser, but to no avail as their quest for a goal reaped no reward as the 90 minutes came to an end.

United will now look towards changing their fortunes in the PSL this Friday when they play host to Kaizer Chiefs at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
