THE winners of the Mi Casa remix competition, who go by their DJ duo name, Jay em, are well underway with preparations for their collaboration with the award winning trio.
Brothers Waven and Ruwayne Sebia, who make up Jay em, were announced as the winners in May this year.
“Our journey so far has been extremely mind opening and educational,” said Waven.
Their efforts while working hard in studio will be the duo’s first step towards creating a legacy for themselves in the music industry.
“The producer, Dr Duda, has really been helpful in teaching us the ropes in making great music and being able to work so closely with him has grown our inspiration in making music,” continued Waven.
“We are in the final stages of our collaboration with Mi Casa and so far our experience has expanded our knowledge in music,” he said.
The brothers have previously hosted their event called First Thursdays, which provides a platform for local musicians to share their sounds with the members of the Bay.
“Before we entered the competition we started an initiative we call First Thursdays, which falls on the first Thursday of every month.
“In each event we hope to achieve an outreach where individuals can enjoy some of our music and where other locals can also introduce their music to the people of the Bay,” said Waven.
The upcoming First Thursday is scheduled to take place on September 6 at 19:00 and promises to be an exclusive event as Jay em will be bringing Mi Casa’s vocalist J’Something to the show for a guest appearance.
Tickets will be sold at R150 and are available from the designated Jay em ticket agents, which are listed on their Facebook page.
Alternatively individuals may also purchase tickets from The Tiki Room at Stanley Street.
