THE annual Rother Swain Drama Studio children’s production is once again just around the corner and this year they have decided to entertain their audiences with their rendition of all-time Disney favourite, The Little Mermaid.
Two separate casts were assembled and have been hard at work learning the choreography and delightful songs. The cast is made up of learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12.
Three matric learners are taking part this year, namely Erika Visser, James van der Merwe and Kyrah Lloyd.
“It is the camaraderie and sheer joie de vivre of all the cast members that are so special,” they quipped.
Lloyd, who has been with the studio from Grade 1, has decided to give other students an opportunity to experience further growth by taking on the role of choreographer for the show.
This is her 11th Rother Swain production. She is hoping to pursue a career in dance and choreography and has embraced this opportunity.
Both Visser and Van der Merwe will also be pursuing careers in the arts.
The two casts will stage The Little Mermaid at the Pemads Little Theatre. Performances will take place as follows: September 1 (14:30, 17:30), September 2 (12:00, 15:00), September 4 to 6 (19:00), September 7 (18:00), September 8 (11:00, 14:30, 17:30) andSeptember 9 (12:00).
