Exciting education expo a

THE first education expo in Port Elizabeth, EduEx, will take place on Friday, August 31 from 14:00 to 18:00, and Saturday, September 1 from 09:00 to 16:00. It will be held at Elsen Academy in Bird Street, Central.

Elsen Academy caters for the needs of children in Port Elizabeth with learning barriers such as dyslexia and ADHD, as well as emotional and social barriers that make attending larger and more traditional schools a challenge.

Organisers Chrizelle Prinsloo, owner of Kip McGrath Education Centres Walmer, and Wilene Wiggill, owner of Wilene Wiggill Occupational Therapy Inc., have carefully selected a variety of professionals and specialists in their fields who represent the spectrum of educational services to be exhibitors at the EduEx.

They include experts in the field of education and extra lessons, entrepreneurship development programmes, supplements, movement-based learning programmes, an emotional intelligence programme and music therapy. A range of health care professions including occupational therapy, audiology, speech therapy, optometry, kinder-kinetics, psychometrics, psychology and counselling will also be represented.

Short presentations by various experts in the field of childhood development will be held during the course of the weekend. Expert Express will provide short bursts of information to answer some of the frequently asked questions in the various fields. Exciting spot prizes are up for grabs after each Expert Express segment.

Schools are encouraged to preregister for the event. The school with the most preregistrations will receive on-site assessments by Kip McGrath Walmer to the value of R3 000. Wiggill offers an hour presentation to the school with the second most preregistrations.
