NELSON Mandela Bay’s much-improved side, Highbury Ladies, shared a goalless draw with gusty Birmingham City Ladies during their Sasol Ladies’ League match at the Bridgemeade Grounds on Saturday.
Whenever Highbury Ladies play on their home turf, the going gets tough for the visitors.
Highbury played their hearts out to keep from disappointing their home supporters.
Players from both sides displayed great football skills and were in desperate need of a goal, which never materialised.
In another game, Ayakha Stars drew 2-2 with another much-improved side, University of Fort Hare, while Executive Ladies thumped Cumakala Ladies 3-0 in Ntabankulu.
The Nelson Mandela Bay derby produced some fireworks with Golden Stars losing 4-3 to City Lads at PE College Dower Campus.
Eluhewini Ladies’ home supporters saw their side share a 1-1 draw with Eastern Rangers at Roma Grounds in Engcobo.
Red Roses went down 4-1 to Thunderbirds in Mount Frere.
Finally, the game which was scheduled to be played between Sophakama Ladies and Amanqilo at Zwide Stadium was postponed because the pitch was waterlogged following the heavy rain.
