COURTNEY Pearce from the McWilliams Academy of Dance in Port Elizabeth took part in the British Nationals at the Southport Convention Centre on September 2.
She competed against dancers from the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada and Australia and was placed an impressive 15th overall in the senior ladies category.
McWilliams Academy of Dance owner and dance teacher, Jennifer McWilliams, said, “I am so incredibly proud of Courtney! To have achieved a recall at the British Nationals is no small achievement!”
To be eligible for a recall, a dancer must be placed in the top 50% after dancing a soft shoe and a hard shoe dance. They then have one more opportunity to dance for the judges, before the overall results are announced.
Courtney remains the highest placed female SA Irish Dancer ever and continues to be an inspiration to young dancers around the country. “We wish Courtney and the rest of the studio all the very best of luck for the SA Championships taking place at the end of September,” said McWilliams.
