It’s ‘cuteology’ time at Walmer Park

THE Walmer Park Baby of the Year competition for 2018 officially kicks off on Friday, September 7 and will run for four weeks finishing off with a final prize giving on Saturday, October 6.

Walmer Park is calling all moms, dads and all the gorgeous babies to enter the original Baby of the Year competition, as it celebrates 27 years of the cutest tots at Walmer Park.

To enter your bundle of joy simply have your baby’s photo taken at the in-centre studio located in the Edgars Court from Friday, September 7 to Sunday, September 30 on Fridays between 12pm and 2pm or on Saturdays and Sundays between 9am and 2pm.

This year we welcome back photographer Heather Stevens from Wild Heart Photography. Complete your Baby of the Year entry form and have your baby’s photograph taken.

Entries cost R50, of which R5 is donated to Isithembiso Babies’ Home. All photographs of the entries received will be on display in the centre for the duration of the competition.

Deveda Bloem, marketing manager of Walmer Park Shopping Centre, said, “Each year as part of the ‘feel good’ element of the competition we strive to assist a babies home in our city. Isithembiso Babies’ Home has been caring for abused and abandoned babies for the past 12 years and we value their contribution and impact they make in our city.”

The age categories for the competition are zero to six months, seven to 12 months, 13-18 months and 19 months to two years old. All the ages are based on the baby’s age on the date of entry.

The top 10 of the “sweetest” finalists per age category will be chosen by our panel of judges, made up of Key sponsors, media partners and centre management. This selection will take place on Monday, October 1. The Top 40 finalists photographs will be published in the PE Express.

Each of the 40 finalists together with their moms and dads need to be available for a short “meet and greet” with the judges on Wednesday, October 3. Specific times will be scheduled.

Thereafter, the top 3 entrants per age category will be announced at the final prize giving on Saturday, October 6, at 10am in the Walmer Park Shopping Centre’s Centre Court Area.. Winners not present at the prize giving at 10am will be disqualified.

All of the top 40 babies stand the chance of winning prizes from sponsors and Walmer Park tenants, Dischem, Bargain Books, Execuspecs, the Baby Gym, Toddlers Workshop, Francarlo Designer Goldsmith, Kodak Express, Wild Heart Photography and Rain Africa.

Only colour photographs, taken by Wild Heart Photography at the in-centre studio will be eligible for entry into the competition. Collect baby’s photographs from Kodak Express Walmer Park from October 10 and not before.
