MOTHERWELL RFC and Motherwell High School’s flank forward, Thabo Dyantyi, saw his dream become a reality when he was selected to be a member of the Eastern Province Rugby Union (EPRU) U/19 team.
According to Motherwell RFC deputy president Sindaphi Windvoel, Dyantyi is a dedicated, disciplined and determined player who works very hard and deserves to represent EPRU U/19.
“Thabo is our future star. This young player enjoys the game of rugby and he puts in more effort during the practice sessions and during the games. His performance improves every time he plays. The future looks bright for this 17-year-old boy. I am over the moon that he has managed to make the final selection into the EPFU U/19 team,” he said.
Windvoel stated that the arrival of two coaches, namely, former Springbok player Thando Manana, and Qondakele Sompondo, at Motherwell RFC made a huge difference.
“I want to commend our coaches for the sterling development of the club. Dyantyi is the revelation of Manana and Sompondo. These two coaches have completely changed the complexion of the club. They exhaust their energy for the club. Their hard work produces star players like Thabo Dyantyi.”
Dyantyi said the reason he was selected for the EPRU U/19 team was that he showed commitment. Dyantyi added that his coaches and team mates supported him every time he was playing.
“I want to thank my parents for their moral support. The management of the club renders more support to the players. Furthermore, my coaches Manana and Sompondo helped me to be the best player.
“These two coaches are like our parents because they equip us with life skills,” said Dyantyi. His mother, Zukiswa, said that her heart was bursting with joy since her son was included in the provincial team.
“I am happy that my son takes sport seriously. Sport helps to keep Thabo off the street. I want to thank the entire club for supporting my son.”
Xolani Plaatjie, Dyantyi’s father, added that he was extremely happy because his son dedicated his time to his studies and sport.
