VEEPLAAS supporters saw their side punishing the gallant Sparks Masters 3-1 in their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Masters Association League encounter at the Mawabo Dyubhele Community Sports Fields in KwaDwesi on Sunday.
Veeplaas came into the game sitting in 13th position on the log table, while Sparks were in fourth position, making them strong favourites for a convincing victory, but this was not to be.
Unathi Khonkobe scored the opening goal for Veeplaas. Zwelandile Fanta also found the back of the net to guide the Veeplaas side to a comfortable 2-0 lead, while Khonkobe scored their third goal.
Sparks Masters’ consolation goal came courtesy of Thanduxolo Balla Gxwalintloko and the game ended with a score of 3-1 in favour of Veeplaas Masters.
In another match PE All Stars humiliated their neighbours, New Brighton, 7-1 at the Nelson Mandela University Missionvale Campus Grounds.
Thanduxolo Mashece, Xolile Fibi and Andile Dunjwa scored a goal each, while Xolani Nogwaza Mnqanqeni and Phumzile TK Ximiya came up with a brace each. Wandile Rara Klaasen scored New Brighton’s late consolation goal.
Volkswagen Masters shared a 1-1 draw with Villagers at the Motherwell NU 29 Community Grounds, while Winners defeated the strong AmaUnits 2-0 at NMU Missionvale Campus Ground.
Slovo Masters hammered Soweto Masters 4-2 at the Khwezilomso Grounds and Zwide Masters won on soft points over PE Eleven Masters. – SELBY MADIKANE
