MASIFUNDE Learner Development’s Academy of Creativity is currently hard at work preparing for their musical spectacular, So What Sara Fina!?, which will hit the stage at the PE Opera House on Saturday, August 4.
More than 40 years after the Soweto uprising, Walmer Youth is critically analysing and reflecting on today’s legacy of those who fought for freedom in 1976 by telling the story of Sara Fina, a bright learner from Walmer High School.
She finds herself in a predicament with no sign of getting a bursary. The last year of high school can be daunting for learners as peer pressure and studies mount.
Sara’s youthfulness and bravery is tested when she is forced to choose between society and a foreigner boyfriend from her school.
So What Sara Fina!? is a fast-paced, entertaining and thought-provoking musical production presented by a talented and passionate cast.
The play is the brainchild of PE-based thespian Xabiso Zweni.
Leads include Yanelisa Matrose as Sara Fina, Sbusiso Kelemana as Tinashe, Ayabonga Tobi as Romeo and Nombulelo Shinga as Gogo.
The cast is completed with 48 children and youth from Grade 6 to 12 in an hour of onstage music and fun.
The show starts at 17.00 and entry is free.
