Annie turns 81 gracefully

It was a joyous occasion when fellow senior members celebrated the 81st birthday of Annie Rees last Thursday.

Lost City Sonskyn Seniors Club members sang cheerful songs and shared good memories while having lunch with Rees in the house of a fellow club member, in Tafelsig.

The lady of the moment, a mother of four, did not have much to say except to thank her friends and to also thank God for having made it this far. She was born and raised in Kensington but moved to Mitchell’s Plain more than 20 years ago.

“I am feeling very well, healthy and want to say thank you for the club members and my daughter who also bought some of the stuff that you see here,” she said.

Regina Rees, her daughter was not present during the celebration but made some contributions to ensure that her mother’s birthday was special.

Michael Daniels (72) and Magdelene Wildeman (72) congratulated her for having reached this milestone.

They also wished her many more years to come, adding she must continue being the good person she is.

“I met her at the club about four months ago, she is a very nice lady who is friendly and giving,” said Wildeman.

She also encourages her to continue serving the Lord and said her happiness comes from Him.

Daniels has known Rees for more than 35 years and has only good things to say about her. He says that she is a good resident who has never caused trouble for anyone in the community.

“I am so glad that the Lord has given her this day. The Lord must bless her and give her courage. His grace is sufficient for her,” said Daniels.
