Clicks gives hope to children’s home

As part of the store’s 50th birthday celebration, Clicks went on a charity drive in Athlone on Tuesday.

Staff and management of the store visited Christine Revell Children’s Home and donated toiletries, nappies and heaters.

The visit formed part of one of 50 charitable causes identified by Clicks’ staff nationwide as their way of giving back to the communities they serve.

A total of 34 projects have been earmarked to receive support through donations of much-needed toiletries, infrastructure and basic essentials. A further R1m worth of reusable sanitary pads will also be donated to 16 schools across the country to reduce absenteeism in schools.

“Seeing the huge need at Christine Revell Children’s Home is very humbling, but also rewarding. We are happy to assist where we can and have enjoyed engaging with and helping the residents here,” says Donna Davids, a coordinator at Clicks.

The local children’s home provides full-time care for up to 49 babies and children from birth to five years of age who have been referred by social workers and placed at the home by order of a children’s court. The children are either neglected, abandoned, abused or orphaned and are accepted at the home irrespective of HIV status, race or gender.
