Police are making headway in the fight against drugs in the Mitchell’s Plain police precinct.
In closing the last year, officers made a major drug bust on New Year’s Eve at 16:15.
Officers attached to the Mitchell’s Plain Crime Prevention Unit conducted a search at a house in Leadwood Street, Eastridge after receiving information that drugs were being stored at the house.
On arriving at the house, the officers searched the premises and found three plastic packets of cocaine, 10 small plastic packets of tik, 8g of tik, 19 straws of heroin, 33g of heroin, 19 ecstasy tablets, 259 grams of dagga, 11 dagga cigarettes, five whole Mandrax tablets and 10 half Mandrax tablets.
During the search the officers also confiscated R7380 in cash.
A man and woman aged 21 and 26 respectively were arrested on charges related to drug possession and dealing.
