Cover shoot only the start for model
Bridgette Jones, a 21-year-old psychology student, is one of three top models for this year’s Clicks Sorbet Cover Model Search.
The model from Bridgetown will appear on the cover of the Clicks Club Card magazine, set to come out on Wednesday 12 September, and will also be featured on the Clicks Beauty Fair brochure cover.
Jones was among 10 000 hopeful entrants at castings held in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban earlier this year, where the entrants were whittled down to the top 50, then the top 23 and finally the top three.
Jones apparently entered the competition a day before it closed. When she heard about the competition her approach was a little different.
Jones didn’t just see it as a way to become better known, but rather as a springboard to possible investors in her community project.
“I am studying psychology, and I plan to specialise in working with children. Living in Athlone, I see many children who have experienced trauma and who really need healing and care.
“I want to make sure there are the recreational facilities that we need in our communities and that there are spaces where our young people can feel safe,” she says in a statement released by Clicks.
Jones says she loves the Sorbet range of products, but long before Sorbet came on the scene, Clicks was always on her shopping list.
“I’ve grown up knowing that it is the place where you can get everything you need, not just for your skin and makeup, but also for the basic health necessities. The Clicks clinic and the pharmacy fill a real need in my area.
“I never expected to make it this far. Just getting to the top 50 was an achievement,” she adds.
Besides the cover model experience, the three winners, who include Amber-Lea Horne from Durban and Nokulunga Xungu from Johannesburg, each received a R10 0000 Clicks gift card, a Sorbet makeup hamper to the value of R7000, and 12 months’ worth of manicures and pedicures from Sorbet.
