More than 20 taxis were impounded and more than R50 000 in traffic offence-related fines issued during a lockdown operation conducted earlier this month. Two arrests were made and two firearms were confiscated. Warrant Officer Tanya Lesch, spokesperson for Hout Bay Police Station, says three cordon-off, searches at taxi ranks, daily vehicle checkpoints and roadblocks were held. She says the operation was a partnership between the Public Order Policing, Flying Squad, K9, Wynberg Cluster, Traffic Law Enforcement and Metro Police.
