V Lavender Hill: Mitchell’s Plain Tactical Response Team arrested four men, aged between 18 and 26, for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Lavender Hill last week. Officers followed up on information and found a silver CZ7.65 pistol with 10 live 7.65mm rounds, as well as a silver Astra Magnum pistol and four .57 live rounds on the premises.

V Lavender Hill: Community involvement paid dividends on Tuesday when information provided was followed up and suspects arrested in Steenberg. On Tuesday 21 August, officers involved in Operation Thunder arrested a 22-year-old man for the possession of 37 live 9mm rounds of ammunition. According to provincial police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, information had been received from the community that ammunition was being stored at a house in De Waal Court. The officers followed up and upon searching the premises, they found the suspect and the ammunition in the house. “The community of Steenberg were thanked for playing their part in combating gang violence in the area and are encouraged to keep coming forward with information,” says Van Wyk.

V Lavender Hill: The Western Cape Tactical Response Team arrested two men, aged 17 and 23, for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Vogel Court. Provincial spokesperson, FC van Wyk, says this success was also the result of receiving information from the community that the two suspects had entered a house in Vogel Court. The officers followed up on the information and arrested the suspects who were found in possession of a revolver with seven live rounds of ammunition.

V Lavender Hill: A 20-year-old Lavender Hill man was arrested on Wednesday for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. Police officers attached to Operation Thunder’s K9 Unit were patrolling the area at Fawley Court. Officers were searching people in the area in response to ongoing shooting in the area when they saw a suspicious-looking person and stopped and searched him. Police confiscated a 9mm Norinco pistol with no serial number and 15 live rounds of ammunition.

V Steenberg: Early on the morning of Thursday 23 August, Steenberg police arrested a 34-year-old man for the possession of ammunition at a house in Sonata Street. Officer arrested the man after they had searched the premises. The officers confiscated 44 rounds of ammunition.
