The Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (CTSMEE) in Rondebosch invites the public to an open day on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 November from 09:00 to 16:00.
The two-day event is aimed at sharing the CTSMEE experience with the public and entertaining children.
There will be various activities to be enjoyed, including rides for children on the five-inch gauge live steam engine. Each ride costs R5 per child and there will be a break of one-and-a-half hours between each ride to allow for the maintenance of the
locomotives.
Parents are welcome at the centre for the duration of the day at a fee of R20 per person.
Andre van Breda, the chairperson of the CTSMEE says: “For those that are interested to join the club, application forms will be available.
“If a person wants to get started and does not have the space for a layout they can join the club, as the club can provide a platform to run the member’s equipment. The club has a fully equipped workshop with lathes, shapers and milling machines. If assistance is required our club has two qualified machinists and a fitter and turner who are always willing to teach new members the trade.”
