Experiment with trains

The Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (CTSMEE) in Rondebosch invites the public to an open day on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 November from 09:00 to 16:00.

The two-day event is aimed at sharing the CTSMEE experience with the public and entertaining children.

There will be various activities to be enjoyed, including rides for children on the five-inch gauge live steam engine. Each ride costs R5 per child and there will be a break of one-and-a-half hours between each ride to allow for the maintenance of the
locomotives.

Parents are welcome at the centre for the duration of the day at a fee of R20 per person.

Andre van Breda, the chairperson of the CTSMEE says: “For those that are interested to join the club, application forms will be available.

“If a person wants to get started and does not have the space for a layout they can join the club, as the club can provide a platform to run the member’s equipment. The club has a fully equipped workshop with lathes, shapers and milling machines.
