A former nurse from Claremont has spread her passion for caring to help homeless people in her suburb.
Wilhemina Louw (60) says healing and motivating runs in her blood, and years after losing her job she has found something that completes her again.
Louw prefers to spend time away from the comfort of her home in Bowwood Road to meet with the homeless who are regularly found near a local butchery and do what little she can to make a difference.
She would like to do more than just motivating them and offering them something to eat.
She wants to start a project that will work in conjunction with organisations like U-Turn Ministry. However, she says she needs guidance as she would like to focus on supporting the homeless and helping them reunite with their families.
Louw says many different circumstances lead people to the streets but not many care to listen and find solutions.
She says some people living on the streets want to go back home and reunite with their families but do not have the bravery to do it on their own. “They need interventions and support. That is what I would like to establish.” Louw is appealing for advice.
