Around 250 women and a handful of men attended a special luncheon in celebration of women.
The Leading Lady luncheon, hosted by Mizpah Educare took place at the Colorado Hall on Saturday.
Pastor Anthea Arendse founder of the educare says they decided to host the luncheon to empower and celebrate women.
“We approached the women in the area to celebrate them. We often have programmes where we focus on families.
“We recently also had a father daughter event. We believe in my child is your child and building family relationships,” she says.
In attendance were also parents of former learners and former learners who had passed through the educare.
In the past nine years, the Beacon Valley based educare has graduated 286 children who are now at various schools or pursuing successful careers, says Arendse.
“We have great support from our parents. We have children at schools all over and it goes to show that people can rise and change the circumstances of the streets and in the community. We want to build strong leaders,” she says.
The event was also attended by ward councillor Solomon Philander, director of Safeline Rochelle Philander and various community workers.
