Help police locate suspects

Police are still in search of suspects responsible for the death of a 38-year-old man whose body was found in his car, earlier this month.

Sergeant Zita Norman, Athlone police spokesperson, says a case of murder has been opened for investigation but no arrest has been made.

Norman explains that police were alerted to an incident where a man lost control of his vehicle in Eland Street, Kewtown, on Thursday 19 July.

Upon police arrival shortly after the accident, the driver had already succumbed to his injuries.

She says that according to medical experts on the scene, the driver had sustained a gunshot wound under his left arm, which resulted in the bullet penetrating his heart. Upon further investigation police discovered that the vehicle had also been shot at, as three cartridges were found close by.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Athlone Police Station on 021 697 9214.
