Man critical after being shot in Salt River

A 48-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot in Salt River earlier today.

Police say the incident took place in Junction Road at about 11:00.

Spokesperson, Sgt Hilton Malila, says police were called to the scene and on arrival found a capsized gold BMW. The car had collided with other vehicles.

“After further investigation, police noticed that there was a male and a female in the car. A preliminary investigation revealed that the male person, who was driving the car, sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” says Malila.

The injured man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. The passenger sustained no injuries in the incident.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation and police have opened a case of attempted murder.
