No justification for new tariffs
I refer to “Is this City still working for you” and “Extra levies killing pensioners” (People’s Post, 28 August), together with other letters of protest on this matter.
Council and ward councillors are claiming to have had public discussion and acceptance of these new tariffs.
There can be no justification to suddenly impose tariffs on old established water metres (such as on a house built in 1917) or on charging for old prepaid electricity metres installed at owner’s cost.
Re-evaluation of houses bought 30/40 years ago does not mean pensioners have this money.
