Police are calling on residents in Manenberg to come forward with any information related to a shooting that occurred in the area on the evening of Monday 30 July.
According to Captain Ian Bennet from Manenberg Police Station, the incident has left one person dead and one in a serious condition.
“It is alleged that two men, between the ages of 34 and 27, were standing in Storms-river Road when they were approached by unknown men, who without any warning fired several shots at them,” he explains.
“Both men were rushed to Heideveld Emergency Centre for medical treatment. The 34-year-old suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his head and was declared dead on arrival and the 27-year-old is currently receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen.”
It is unclear why the victims were a target of this shooting incident. Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened for investigation and no arrests have been made, Bennet adds.
