WATCH: Homes alight in Hout Bay

A fire in Imizamo Yethu Informal Settlement in Hout Bay gutted three houses and an undisclosed number of shacks today (Wednesday 22 August) at about 13:25.

Theo Layne, spokesperson for City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services, says officials attended to the incident. He says four fire engines, one water tanker and a rescue vehicle with 24 firefighters was dispatched.

A resident, Ziyanda Nguqu say it is believed the fire started in a backyard shack and spread to the three other houses in Chris Hani Road.
