Ambassadors ready for annual fun run

THE annual Bread of Heaven charity run is set to take place on September 8 at Port Shepstone Senior Primary school at 7 am.

The fund-raising event is a 5 km or 10 km fun run/walk. Each ambassador runner is expected to raise a minimum of R500 to R1 000 by way of sponsorships and donations.

You don’t have to be an ambassador to raise funds and any funds raised can be handed to the Bread of Heaven organising committee.

The Bread of Heaven feeding scheme is operated by a team of volunteers who, on a daily basis, prepare sandwiches for children and deliver them to nine schools in the area.

Currently over 800 needy and destitute school children benefit from the feeding scheme.

The organisation gets no funding from the government and relies on public donations, business sponsorships, small grants-in-aid, voluntary contributions and local fund-raising drives such as fun runs, raffles etc.

Event organiser Gordon Michael said the ambassador run is set to take runners from Port Shepstone Senior Primary via the main Harding road and through Oslo Beach.

“Runners will enjoy a morning sea view while enduring the King Haakon stretch,” he said.

Lazer911 Security will handle the safety of the event. For further information on the run, and for registration details, participants can contact Gordon Michael on 073 510 4453.
