Four arrested with firearms, money and stolen items

ON Friday, July 20, four people between the ages of 29 and 35 were arrested in Harding for the possession of unlicensed firearms, stolen property and cash.

Police said they spotted a gold Toyota Tazz with four occupants who were behaving suspiciously while driving along Musgrave Road in Harding.

They pulled the vehicle over and searched the occupants and the motor vehicle. The police found three unlicenced firearms, forty six unlicensed ammunitions, a large quantity of suspected stolen property and as well as some cash in the boot of the vehicle.

The suspects were also linked to five business robberies which had occurred in Mzamba and Port Edward policing areas. They appeared at the Ezinqoleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 23, on charges of three counts of possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of unlicensed ammunitions and possession of suspected stolen property. They also appeared at Bizana Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, July 24, on a charge of business robbery which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Mzamba precinct.

The firearms will be taken for ballistic testing to determine if they had previously been used to commit other crimes. — Supplied.
