Good turnout at business

SCORES of business owners showed up for the South Coast Chamber of Commerce monthly business breakfast at uMdlalo lodge where Ray Nkonyeni Municipality municipal manager, Max Mbili, delivered the municipality’s 20-year growth development plan to an enthusiastic audience.

The event was sponsored by Standard Bank and area manager for small businesses Marlon Reddy unpacked the bank’s core functions and benefits for businesses.

Introducing the MM was the chamber’s former president and executive member Ivan Naidoo, who described Mbili as a well accomplished scholar and leader with a big heart.

In his presentation, Mbili laid out a myriad of projects ,which are in the pipeline within the municipality, for the next 20 years. He invited businesses to be a part of the “dreams” as he coined them and bring forth any other business ideas they might have to the municipality.

He said the municipality wished to encourage socio-economic transformation within communities beyond tender businesses.

“As the largest municipality in the district and the economic hub of the district we want to diversify our economy by collaborating with various stakeholders in the private sector,” said Mbili.

SCCI president Vijay Naidoo said he was impressed with the turn out at the event and thanked all who attended.

He said the chamber would be hosting a women’s breakfast on August 14.
