Fit, fast fighter wins gold at world champs

SHE is young, extremely fit, fast and strong, a fighter, only 17 years old and an international champion!

Angelique Myburgh from Uitenhage represented South Africa at the 2018 ISKA US Open World Sport Martial Arts Championhips which was held in Orlando Florida in the United States of America.

In her category she won the breaking section, finishing off 7 wooden planks with one hit!

She achieved second position in points fighting, which is based on a first to score basis; second for continuos fighting and in MMA fighting which consist of stand up and grappling.

In the section for clash sparring she came third.

Angelique trains at Fusion Martial Arts Academy in Uitenhage and holds a green belt.

According to ther trainer, Sensei Cindy Strydom, “Angelique has been training for almost two years and holds much potential for the future.”

Angelique is a Grade 12 learner at Strelitzia High School and is planning to next year study education.
