Uitenhage High School will host this year’s annual Human Race which will be held on Saturday, September 22nd, with the start and finish at the school grounds.
The iconic race, sponsored by Nelson Mandela University and the Centre for the Advancement of Non Racialism and Democracy (CANRAD) will take the form of a 5km fun run. The vision of CANRAD is: “To lead the advancement of non-racialism and democracy within the University and broader society”.
The activities of the Centre are therefore aligned on the shared understanding of the interdependence of research, advocacy, education, and intervention.
The aims and objectives of the Centre include to conduct basic and applied research on non-racialism and democracy and to initiate projects that critically analyse the notion of race and the manifestation of racism and its alternatives.
Uitenhage High School is indeed honoured to be part of this venture and being the progressive institution that it is, the school has been widely involved in furthering the ideals of non-racialism and democracy amongst its learners.
