THREE male suspects between the ages of 20 and 26-years were arrested in Henry Ford Road on Sunday evening after they hijacked a vehicle in KwaNobuhle.
According to police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart, the possibility that the suspects might be linked to other hijackings in the Uitenhage and Port Elizabeth clusters are under investigation.
K9 police members spotted the alleged hijacked vehicle in Henry Ford Road, Port Elizabeth, whilst on duty. They apprehended three males suspects.
“It is alleged that the 38-year-old male complainant was driving his Mazda 323 in the Gunguluza area in Kwanobuhle, when he was stopped by the males who requested a lift,” said police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart.
“One of the males suddenly cocked a firearm and instructed the driver to move to the back whilst another male got into the driver’s seat. The suspects dropped off the complainant and sped off in the direction of Port Elizabeth.”
The owner of the vehicle alerted the police and the description of the vehicle and the registration number were circulated by members of the Uitenhage 10111 Centre.
