‘Thank you’ for support of noble cause

WHEELS 4 Sight was a massive success owing to the generosity of the local communities with the event bringing together various sectors in support of the noble cause of restoring the sight of the blind.

Uitenhage Lions Club combined in a fund-raiser known as Wheels 4 Sight Fundraiser, which was held on the outskirts of Despatch, and an amount of R23 754 was raised.

The Wheels 4 Sight fundraiser was held in partnership with Retina SA of Port Elizabeth, Spiders Web, Workshop Crew MCC, Road Runners Street Rods, Luister FM and of course the Uitenhage Lions Club.

Gail Cillie, Regional Director of Retina SA Eastern Cape, said that the event also helped to create awareness of conditions that cause blindness.

Lion President Wayne Kilian of the Uitenhage Lions Club said Retina SA staff was also able to provide information and counselling to people experiencing loss of vision.

“The funds raised will be used for the ongoing retinal research projects which will bring treatment for retinal blindness,” said Marius Kilian of the Workshop Crew MCC.
