Uitenhage Lions awarded as top club in district

AS a non-profit service provider the Uitenhage Lions Club is totally dependent upon support of the local community and its businesses.

This partnership proved to be excellent as the Uitenhage Lions Club was named the top performing club out of 26 clubs in its district.

“The Uitenhage Lions Club wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to members, family, friends, local business and the UD Express for their support in the club being recognised and awarded these very lucrative banners by District 410D,” said past Lion President Hein de Vrey (Term 2017/2018).

This outstanding award was presented to the Uitenhage Lions Club at the recently held Neptune Conference. The club was also presented banners (awards) for scrapbooking, which depicts and records the services to those they serve, through media, social media involving Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The club was awarded the Alert banner for its support of relieving hunger within the community. These banners contributed to Uitenhage Lions Club receiving the Top Club Award for 2017/2018.

According to Lion President Wayne Kilian, all proceeds raised from the various fundraisers are used to fund projects in support of the community.

This includes inter alia providing free diabetes testing, supporting youth via Leos, vision screening to assist those living with low vision, relieving the hunger in providing access to healthy food for the vulnerable population and protecting the environment to make it a healthier place to live in for everyone.

“We believe the continued support of the community as well as local businesses will keep the Uitenhage Lions Club amongst the top performing clubs in our District of 26 clubs,” said Lion President Wayne Kilian.
