Two trucks have been set alight in a violent protest on the N2 in Mtubatuba, on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.
A group of about 250 people blockaded the N2 near the Madadeni area on Tuesday. They were protesting over lack of service delivery, said Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.
The protest began at about 05:30. The protesters also allegedly pelted passing cars with stones.

Mbhele confirmed that two trucks had been set alight.
"The situation is still tense and public order police members are still at the scene to stabilise the situation," she said, adding that no one had been injured.
Mbhele said two charges of malicious damage to property would be opened at the KwaMsane police station for investigation.
"No arrests have been made," she said.
