Durban - The Inkatha Freedom Party wants to regain control of Mtubatuba municipality in the north of KwaZulu-Natal, chairperson Blessed Gwala said on Saturday.
"The people of Mtubatuba are saying that the only party that can deliver services and fulfil their hopes and dreams is the IFP," he said welcoming 59 new members in the area.
He said the Mtubatuba municipality had been under administration since September 2012 which meant that the African National Congress (ANC) and the National Freedom Party (NFP) coalition was unable to run the municipality.
"As we are going to the 2016 local government elections we want to retain Mtubatuba municipality and rescue people in other similar municipalities.
"We believe in clean governance and we want to make sure that all the municipalities that are governed through coalitions between the ANC and NFP will be governed by us after the 2016 elections."
