Man hands self in for killing friend

Johannesburg - A man handed himself to Johannesburg central police after allegedly stabbing his friend to death, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said the 28-year-old handed himself to police on Tuesday around 16:00.

Sibusiso Nala, 30, was stabbed once in the upper body at the Calcium Building, on the corner of Goud and Jeppe streets, at noon on Monday.

"The deceased and the suspect were friends. They had an argument concerning a phone that was missing. They started to fight and the suspect took out a knife and stabbed his friend," said Mbele.

Nala died on the scene and his friend fled to Alexandra. The man was expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
