Johannesburg - A man has died and another was in a critical condition following two separate shootings in Johannesburg and Midrand in Gauteng, paramedics said on Friday.
The first shooting happened on the M1 highway, south of the Johannesburg CBD.
"Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a shooting incident on the M1 De Villiers Graaff Motorway in Mondeor last night [Thursday] at around 21:00," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann.
"Upon their arrival on scene they found a man had tragically lost his life following the shooting incident."
Police were investigating.
In the second shooting in Midrand, paramedics and other services were alerted around 23:40 on Thursday.
The shooting occurred on Broadwalk Street, near Pretoria Main Road in Halfway House, Midrand.
"Upon their arrival on scene they found a 21-year-old man in a critical condition following the shooting incident," Steinmann said.
"The man was treated on scene and rushed to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required."
She said police were investigating.
