Bellville office that was broken into has security measures – Hawks

The Hawks' premises in Cape Town, which were broken into recently, has security measures but these cannot be disclosed, spokesperson Captain Philani Nkwalase said on Wednesday.

There were visible signs of a break-in after a thief or thieves targeted two offices in the complex and stole a laptop and a desktop screen, he said.

The break-in is believed to have happened at the weekend and was discovered when staff reported for duty on Monday.

Nkwalase said he could not comment on whether the laptop contained sensitive information.

Western Cape police spokesperson FC van Wyk confirmed that they were investigating a business burglary case and that no arrests had yet been made.

In July 2017, computers were stolen in a brazen break-in at the Hawks' head office in Silverton, Pretoria.

The intruders focused mostly on the HR, finance and supply chain departments, where confidential information was kept.
