Durban - Mkhulise chief Khulekane Walter Mkhulise died in a hospital in Durban on Friday after a short illness, AbaThembu chief Zwelivelile Mandla Mandela said on Saturday.
"His loss is deeply felt by the Royal House of Mandela, the Mkhulise Royal Family and, indeed, the entire AbaThembu Nation," said Mandela in a statement of condolence.
Mkhulise, who was born on 25 January 1981, died on Friday morning at King Edward Hospital in Durban, explained Mandela.
He would be sorely missed by family, friends, elders and the community of Sandanezwe in KwaZulu-Natal, added Mandela.
Mkhulise had been the head of the Mkhulise royal family and the Vezokuhle Traditional Council since August 2007. The history of the Mkhulise is strongly intertwined with the AbaThembu.
"Our heartfelt condolences to his family, the AbaThembu nation and all who loved him. May the Almighty bless his immediate family and give them strength through their time of bereavement. May his soul rest in peace," Mandela said.
