Friday's weather: High temperatures persist across SA

Hot weather conditions continue across the country on Friday.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the extreme north-western parts of the Northern Cape, according to information provided by the South African Weather Service.

The temperature along the coast is also expected to be hot.

Gauteng will be partly cloudy at first with morning mist in the south and southeast. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.

Mpumalanga is expected to be cloudy in the Lowveld with isolated showers. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm.

Limpopo is expected to be cloudy with isolated showers in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm, but hot in the Western Bushveld.

It will be fine and hot in the North West, becoming partly cloudy in the west with isolated thunderstorms from the afternoon.

It will be cloudy over the extreme east of the Free State at first with early morning fog patches. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm, but partly cloudy over the western parts, spreading to the east by the evening. Isolated thunderstorms are expected over the western parts and along the Lesotho border.

The Northern Cape is expected to be cloudy with foggy conditions along the coast and adjacent interior at first.

Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot but fine in the extreme west.

Isolated thundershowers are expected over the northern interior from the morning, spreading south and eastwards to the southern and eastern parts by the afternoon.

It will be very hot over the northern interior. The wind along the coast will be light and variable at first, otherwise light to moderate southerly to south-westerly.

Fog patches are expected along the west coast of the Western Cape at first.

Otherwise, it will be fine and warm and very hot over the western parts but cloudy to partly cloudy over the south coast and eastern interior.

Isolated afternoon thundershowers are expected, but scattered over the extreme north-east.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly to easterly, becoming strong south of Cape Point, spreading along the south coast by the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index will be extreme.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly.

Morning fog is expected over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal.

Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in the southwest.

Otherwise, isolated showers are expected, except in the northwest. The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly but south-easterly in the north at first. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.
