Frozen veggies truck overturns and bursts into flames

A case of reckless and negligent driving will be investigated after a truck overturned and lost its load on the N3 near Townhill in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the truck was Durban-bound when it overturned and burst into flames at about 16:00.

She said the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for medical attention.

"A truck carrying frozen veggies was travelling on the N3 freeway towards Durban when the driver allegedly lost control of the truck and it overturned and burst into flames," she said adding that one lane had been cleared after the road was closed earlier.

Mbhele said the reckless and negligent driving case would be opened at Townhill police station.
