The Home Affairs system throughout the country is down on Friday due to an unexpected power outage.
"The Department of Home Affairs is today, 10 August 2018, experiencing system downtime due to power supply outage at SITA [the State Information Technology Agency] which has affected all offices across the country," spokesperson Thabo Mokgola said in a statement on Friday.
Offices across the country would not be able to render services, and the department could not confirm when their national identification system, national population register and live capture systems would be up and running again.

"SITA and Home Affairs technicians are investigating the problem, and clients will be updated on when services will be restored," Mokgola said.
The department apologised for the inconvenience.
